Website
We at Peak Walking Group have changed our website hosting provider from 1 September. The management of the site is considerably changed and it may take some time to get it looking and functioning exactly as we want. Please bear with us if something doesn’t look right, and report it on
Group Social
We are planning a group social on 15 December, which will include a review of our Committee-less format after its first year of operation. This is likely to commence at 11ish and be followed by lunch.
Notes
DOGS
Dogs are welcome on Peak Walking Group walks and we routinely field quite a pack, but owners need to have them under control. The safety of livestock, and how larger animals will react to dogs, is always a concern – so please don’t let your dog enter a field until you have ensured that it contains nothing that the dog might worry.
Social Media
We use WhatsApp to keep members up to date with what is going on at Peak Walking Group. There are two separate members-only groups – one to enable people to book on to walks (or for walk leaders to notify any late changes), the other for anything else. We know that not everyone is happy to use WhatsApp, and it is possible to receive information by email – but this does put a strain on volunteer resources and cannot be guaranteed.
Walk Grading
For more than 20 years Peak Walking Group has graded our walks using a pre-2004 version of The Ramblers’ grading system, so walks go from A (pretty much level on good paths, along something like the Monsal Trail) through to D (some rough terrain, plus harder ascents and descents). These are open to interpretation, and we are discussing whether introducing a different system gives sufficient benefit to justify the effort.
