Above all, a warm and friendly welcome
Peak Walking Group prides itself on being as accessible and inclusive as a walking group can be.

A passion for enjoying the Peak District’s wide open spaces
Our members are committed walkers, but we’re not as quick as we used to be, and are happy to take a breather under cover of admiring the scenery
Friendly and Welcoming
People will talk to you, and you won’t find yourself on the fringes of established cliques.
Two breaks in each walk
Coffee at 11:00 – sometimes with cake – and lunch at 1pm. Bring your own comestibles.
A steady pace
Not for us the “head down, stride out” march of many walking groups. We take our time, wait for back markers – and crucially give them time to catch their breath when they arrive!
You don’t need expensive gear, but we do expect that anyone walking with us will be suitably dressed for the weather, including where appropriate waterproofs, warm clothing, sun protection (sometimes all on the same day!). The terrain on our walks can often be challenging, and stout footwear – ideally walking boots, and almost never trainers – will be needed. For more suggestions, please see the Ramblers guide
https://www.ramblers.org.uk/go-walking-hub/what-wear-when-walking
If in doubt about whether a particular walk is suitable, the walk leader can be contacted in advance for more details.
If you’re thinking of joining a walk as a guest, please let the leader know, so that we can look out for you at the start point.
Being sociable and taking time to look at the views is why we walk, not just to keep fit, though if it’s freezing cold our lunch/snack stops will be shortened.
We are always mindful of the Countryside Code: Countryside Code campaign site.
